Triumph Motorcycles India private limited today launched the Daytona 675 motorcycle in India at Rs. 10.15 lac (ex-showroom price, Delhi) at the AutoExpo 2014. Triumph Daytona 675 is a Super sport motorcycle from the renowned british motorcycle manufacturer. Triumph entered in India with a  lineup of ten bikes in November 2013.

With the launch of Triumph Daytona 675, the iconic British motorcycle manufacturer now has a total of 11 motorcycles in its stable for Indian buyers. Since Triumph ventured in India in November 2013, two new Triumph stores and service centres have opened and the company plans to open seven new stores in the next three months. Triumph has announced the bookings for Delhi and Chennai. Triumph Daytona 675 has won many accolades in magazine comparison tests, in the prestigious International Masterbikes shootout and even won many races and titles around the world.

Triumph Daytona 675 is powered by a 675 cc, inline three cylinder, 12 valve, DOHC, liquid cooled, fuel-injected engine which churns out maximum power of 126 bhp at 12600 rpm and maximum torque of 72 Nm at 11750 rpm. The engine of the supersports motorcycle is coupled to a six-speed gearbox. Power from the engine to the rear tire is transferred via a chain set.

Triumph currently has operational dealerships in Bangalore and Hyderabad. The british manufacturer has announced bookings for Mumbai and Pune dealerships, which will be open by March. The bookings for Delhi and Chennai will start from 6th February and the dealerships in both cities will be operational very soon.

The Japanese giant Toyota Kirloskar Motors today unveiled the all new Corolla Altis at the first day of the on going auto expo 2014 at Greater Noida. The car unveiled is the 11th generation version from the manufacturer. The new car comes with refreshed new looks, decent looking interiors. The car is aimed to delight more young customers and is designed accordingly.

Like the previous model the car gets both petrol and diesel variants, however the variants gets advanced and dynamic exteriors and interiors. The new car features new stylish chrome grille, LED headlamps, LED Clearance Lamps (four) along with new 16” alloy wheels which brings a decent and confident look.  The cars interiors are also more of a premium class with plush leather sats, dual tone colour interiors and cyber carbon piano black instrument panel cluster giving the car a rich feel.  The car comes with features like- push start/stop button, smart entry, rain sensor, paddle shift, rear array lamp, rear power socket. Along with it the car features 7 inch touch screen, one button operation and voice command capable audio(with USB, Bluetooth, navigation, back camera and mirror link).

Also the car being regarded as the luxury car, the car has to be very comfortable and to make it more comfortable than before the company has has has increased the cabin space with rear reclining seats. The rear seat leg room has been increased from 2600mm to 2700mm so the rear leg room is increased by approx. 100 mm. Also the rear tires have been shifted a little more towards the tail of the car so that the rear passenger can have optimum level of comfort. To enhance the driving position further more the steering angle is changed from 24 degree to 22 degree, also vertical adjustment of the seat is enhanced by increasing it by 15 mm( from 45mm to 60mm).

The petrol variant will be available in both super CVT-i with 7 speed sequential shiftmatic and paddle shift and  6 speed manual transmission. For the diesel variant, it will be available in 1ND D-4D diesel engine with variable Nozzle Turbo and Intercooler with 6 speed manual transmission. Bookings of the car has started from today and the prices will be announced at the time of sales. The deliveries will commence from May 2014 and the car will be available in seven exciting colours.

Maruti Suzuki today unveiled the two new models named 'Concept Ciaz' and ' Global SX4 S-Cross' at the 2014 AutoExpo. Maruti Suzuki showcased both the models to display its prowess and capability to expand into new segments. These two distinct offerings are postioned for different segments and this will surely help Maruti to gain good foothold in the new segments in near future. Maruti Suzuki SX4 S-Cross offers best of the two segments together and is based on the Maruti Suzuki SX4 . With the new concept Ciaz, the company demonstrated its ability to expand into new segments with new technologies. Suzuki Motor Corporation has developed the concept car for leading markets like India and China.

Unveiling of both the cars hints towards Maruti Suzuki's plans to enter in new segments. Seems like Maruti Suzuki does not want to loose its leadership in the Indian car market. Speaking on the ocassion Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India limited said, “Concept Ciaz and SX4 S-cross are two premium segment global offerings. This rich line up will strengthen our product portfolio and prepare us for the future.” With this car, Suzuki will aim to strengthen its product portfolio.

Toshihiro Suzuki, Executive Vice President, Suzuki Motor Corporation said, “The two cars that we unveil today follow the footsteps of the iconic Suzuki Swift. Global SX4 S-Cross is a bold, sporty crossover with excellent aerodynamics. This crossover offers good passenger space and luggage capacity. The crossover has also received 5-star Euro NCAP overall safety rating. Maruti Suzuki has equipped the SX4 S-Cross with an all new 4WD( four wheel Drive) system. Another exciting feature on this car will be a double sliding glass panaromic sunroof. Equipped with such features this crossover is a good innovation.

Suzuki has designed this crossover as an upgrade for hatchback customers. Crossovers are really popular in Europe and the company expects the same to happen in India as well. The car boasts the ruggedness of a SUV, a sharp body line, wheel arch mouldings, skid garnishes and integrated roof rails enhance the styling of this crossover from Maruti Suzuki. This car boasts chrome finishing at the front and LED headlamps. The instrument panel of the car is also neatly designed.

The concept  car on display was in Vintage Red colour which was looking stunning and with the chrome work the Concept Ciaz surely looks glamorous. The long wheelbase and low height of the car give it a proper sedan look.

Regarding launch of both vehicles the CIAZ and SX4 S-Crossover in India, it totally depends upon the feedback which company will receive from the poeple. Today the production of Datsun's new family car “Dasun GO” started with the rolling out of the first Datsun GO at the Company's Oragadam plant near Chennai. Globally this factory is the first one to start production of new generation Datsun models. Datsun cars will be manufactured at this Renault-Nissan Alliance manufacturing plant(RNAIPL).

The production launch of the new Datsun GO began on the factory's 'Line 2'. The event was marked by the presence of Vincent Cobee, Global Head, Datsun and many local dignitaries including Thiru. P. Thangamani, Minister of Industries,Tamil Nadu and Masanori Nakano, Counsul General of Japan.

The Datsun Go was premiered last July in Delhi. The Datsun believes that its products will be at par with its rivals as their models combine Nissan's global knowledge across development and production, to meet the specific demands of the customers. This alliance of Renault Nissan will benefit Datsun as the company will get the latest manufacturing, engineering and developing processes along with a local supplier base in India which will benefit the Indian customers.

The company has plans to open more factories like the Oragadam plant in other high growth markets like Indonesia and Russia later in 2014. The company's plant at Oragandam, Chennai will also boost up the local economy as over 100 local  ancilliary companies supply components and parts for the Datsun GO.

Toshiyuki Shiga, Vice-Chairman, Nissan Motor Company said, “This is a landmark day for all of us at Nissan Motor Corporation. It represents the culmination of several years of extremely hard work to return the Datsun brand to market.”

Datsun GO hatchback is a modern five-door, front wheel drive spacious family car which has seating capacity for five people, the car is suitable for first time car buyers. Datsun's GO is built on the Nissan Micra platform. The hatchback is expected to be powered by the 1.2 litre, three-cylinder, petrol engine which also powers the Nissan Micra petrol. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Datsun might re-tune the engine of the GO in order to provide more fuel efficiency. Once launched this car will take on other entry level rival hatchbacks which include the Hyundai i10, Maruti Alto K10, Chevroletr Beat, Maruti Wagon R, Hyundai Santro, etc.

The car will be sold through exclusive Datsun dealerships which will be set at all the existing Nissan dealerships in India. Datsun is Nissan's Sub brand, both Nissan and Datsun will have separate sales and service teams but same dealerships. Nissan in India has a portfolio of two brands, Nissan and Datsun. Nissan has partnered with Hover Automotive India Ltd. for the distribution, sales and service of vehicles under Nissan brand. Nissan Motor in India will be responsible for distribution, sales and services of vehicles under the Datsun brand. The sales of the Datsun GO will begin in March 2014.

Chevrolet has revealed the new Spark hatchback for the US market. The 2016 Chevrolet Spark is the precursor to the upcoming Beat which will be sold in India, though the model sold in India may not share all features with the car showcased here. The new Spark will be sold in over 40 countries across the world and represents the new direction that the company has taken since it has launched the new Cruze internationally. "Chevrolet is fast becoming one of the world's most important mini- and small car manufacturers, offering customers around the globe a new road to the refinement, efficiency and connectivity features that resonate with them. The redesigned 2016 Spark builds on a strong legacy and takes the segment to a higher level with features and technologies not typically offered," said Alan Batey, president, GM North America and Global Chevrolet. The new Spark is now longer, shorter and lower than the outgoing car. It is powered by a new 4-cylinder petrol motor (which will not be offered in India)that is mated to either a manual transmission or a CVT. The interiors have been redesigned and new equipment have been added. The Spark is still based on the 15-year old Gamma platform which underpins most of the compact hatchbacks made by the company and its group partners around the world. The same platform and most of the design will be shared by the upcoming India-bound Beat too. A competitive pricing policy (prices will be revealed later) will help market this to even more people. Striking paint options and a comprehensive personalisation program will help Chevrolet market it to the younger crowd better. The 2016 Spark will be produced at the company's Changwon plant in South Korea and shipped to the USA. [gallery columns="2" link="file" ids="71763,71766"] Design-wise, the Spark looks quite grown up. The car has not grown in terms of dimensions, it is longer by a small margin, the roof is lower and it sits 40mm lower than the model it replaces. The lower roof and better air-flow management thanks to the lower ride-height has helped improve the mileage of the car, claims Chevrolet. The exterior design has been tweaked to give the Spark a larger presence; the new headlights are horizontally elongated rather than the almost vertical units on the older model, the two-part grille is wider, the roof is lower, the side panels get more detailing, the taillamps are sleeker and the rear bumper is sculpted. The highlighted wheel arches add to the planted look of the car. The design, when looked at from the side also looks 'grown up', this thanks to the new body line running along the door-handle, the redesigned lower relief section and the prominent rear haunch. The window-line rises sharply, but the rear window is larger than before which will definitely help make the interiors feel airier than before. The rear door-handle is still brilliantly concealed beside the window, this is one design element which will continue to be featured on the Spark for the near future. Inside, the 'grown-up' theme continues; while the previous-gen car was known for its funky design, the new Spark is toned down and more functional. The motorcycle-inspired floating instrument console has been replaced by a traditional unit, though this also contains a high-quality dot-matrix driver information display. The centre-console is dominated by a 7-inch colour-touch screen with Chevrolet MyLink multimedia system preloaded. Trapezoidal A/C vents replace the units found on the previous model. The space has not been compromised on the Spark even though the roof is lower on the newer car thanks to better packaging. Better quality materials, like new plastics, higher quality fabrics and better seat cushioning enhance the comfort and feel of the cabin. Standard equipment on the 2016 Chevrolet Spark include GM's OnStar assistance system, 4G LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot, rear-view camera, etc. Other features available are park assist, blind-spot assist, lane departure warning and forward collision alert system. Safety is a priority and the Spark comes with 10 airbags as standard. Chevrolet in India is not expected to offer most of these features in the upcoming Beat though.

The Spark is powered by a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder Ecotec petrol engine mated to either a manual-transmission or a CVT. This engine may not be offered in the Beat, so we will not go into details. It will be interesting to see how much of what is seen on the 2016 Spark will be transferred onto the upcoming Chevrolet Beat. Stay tuned.
